Responsibilities
Mainspring is seeking a Manager of new product validation and reliability testing to accelerate the validation of our prototypes and latest linear generator designs. This position is very cross-functional with a scope of work at the intersection of engineering, project management and operations. This position will indeed combine hands-on work to ensure new designs are built with high quality, instrumented and tested. This will require good level of planning in a fast paced and agile environment.
As a leader within the Mainspring Energy test engineering team, you will indeed:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of the reliability testing of our newest generator designs. This will involve close collaboration with the reliability group and other engineering teams.
- Manage and grow the team of reliability test engineers to make sure they are in the best position to succeed in their missions
- Own the build of new prototypes from its BOM to the build completion. You will define critical times and work closely with our technical operations team to ensure new prototypes are properly built according to their timelines.
- Facilitate the implementation of these new designs into manufacturing.
- Actively collaborate with the two other hubs of the test engineering team (R&D and product qualification for manufacturing) to allocate testing resources and define testing priorities.
- Build, grow and manage a new team as the scope of work progressively scales up
Concretely, there is a continuous stream of new designs to further improve performances and reduce costs of Mainspring linear generators and this position is a critical bridge to make sure these new design drawings convert into real products ultimately dispatched at customer sites.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience in testing of complex systems is necessary
- Previous experience with people management is also necessary
- Previous exposure and appetite for operations is critical
- Need to demonstrate great organization skills with the ability to simplify complex situations
- Successful communicator, strive for "pro-active collaboration" to be able to interface with a wide range of teams, skillsets and level of experience
- Experience with complex BOM, part management and engineering management is a strong plus
The Bay Area salary for this role is $150k-$180k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.
