Current Opportunity: Software Developer – Austin, TX
The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation is seeking a full stack Software Developer to join their Giving Management Product team to build and support elegant solutions to manage our charitable giving. The Giving Management platform is used to manage over $160 million in giving each year and supports our Program Officers in managing their grants/investments. This role requires that the person is based in Austin, TX.
Our business partners leverage a strong technology platform to enable them to manage and efficiently run their programs and processes. As a Software Developer on the team, you will collaborate with the other members of the product team as well as business to understand the domain and tackle problems through innovative solutions as we continue to push technology forward. As a Software Developer your primary responsibilities include:
- Using your technical leadership to design, develop, test and deploy web solutions that meet our business needs.
- Timely delivery of scalable, high quality reliable and innovative solutions
- Ongoing support and maintenance of these products. Troubleshoot and support applications in production in case of any issues.
- Develop and maintain our suite of automated test cases
- Development and support of automated build and deployment processes
- Management of our development/test environments as well as tool/build environments
The ideal candidate should have a BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree/industry experience and has spent at least 3-5 years directly responsible for developing .NET web-based software applications. The candidate should have experience with architecture and development of n-tier Web applications and demonstrate knowledge/skills in most of the following areas:
- A solid understanding of the .NET framework, including ASP.NET, C#, and related web technologies. This includes knowledge of key concepts, design patterns, and best practices.
- Development using an ORM (nHibernate or Entity Framework)
- Proficiency in working with SQL Server includes designing efficient database schemas, writing complex SQL queries, and optimizing database performance.
- Experience developing software on cloud infrastructure (Azure strongly preferred)
- Software configuration best practices including experience building software with CI/CD, DevOps pipelines, Source Control (git)
- Experience successfully completing/delivering multiple projects utilizing an Agile methodology
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) using nUnit (or similar testing tools) is preferred
