Summary
This role reports to the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and is responsible for the management of language, interpretation, and special communication needs services programs supporting Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) with patient care and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Manages Qualified Employee Interpreter Program, ensuring adequate availability and competency of staff. Responsibilities include identification of qualified employees, selection, completion of training/assessment process, and initial and ongoing evaluation of proficiency/competency.Serves as Program Manager for language and special communication needs program by applying knowledge of federal/state laws and regulatory body standards {i.e., Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Office of Civil Rights (OCR), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Affordable Care Act (ACA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)}. Implements, assesses, evaluates, and monitors systems, programs and/or projects to ensure all clinical areas are meeting organizational obligation to support patient communication while adhering to regulatory requirements.Serves as lead liaison for establishing wider breadth of vendor interpretation services into existing and incoming clinical platforms including MyChart, Telehealth, and personal remote/handheld devices ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Ensures established quality metrics are achieved for Qualified Employee Interpreter Program and Contracted Vendor Interpreter Program by measuring and analyzing effectiveness of each program as measured by regulatory compliance and end-user satisfaction. Provides actionable reports to the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and develops interventions for noncompliance.Organizes or provides staff education for all patient access points on language and special communication services and products. Audits, measures, and reports language interpretation and special communication needs service compliance as required by regulations by providing actional reports to the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs.Provides input, collaboration and general oversight related to webpage content for internal and external customers related to regulatory requirements, messaging, information sharing, qualified staff interpreter real-time availability, guidance, and contact information for language and special needs communication services.Manages Contracted Vendor Interpreter Program, ensuring adequate availability and competency of interpreters and equipment availability/functionality. Timely and effectively receives and resolves concerns/problems related to vendor services, equipment issues, and language or special communication needs program compliance. Handles program functions: manages contracts and amendments, invoices, and equipment needs for the organization including interdepartmental collaboration with supply chain, accounts payable, and all clinical areas with patient access points (i.e., hospitals, MPG offices, MPC sites, Urgent Care Centers, MCI sites, clinics, rehab centers, mobile vans, etc.).
