Quality Manager – Day Shift (M-F, 8-5)
Our successful automotive supplier client, located in the greater Asheville area, seeks a Quality Manager to develop and maintain a quality system that meets internal and external customer requirements while optimizing quality, productivity, and safety. Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure new production launches comply with APQP and PPAP activities by reviewing customer and engineering requirements.
- Maintain and uphold IATF 16949 Technical Specification Management standards.
- Adhere to OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standards and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management system standards.
- Manage the quality department team, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and scheduling.
- Inspect purchased, in-process, and finished products according to QMS procedures.
- Provide quality training to employees as needed.
- Participate in APQP project teams for successful project launches.
- Implement best practices and lessons learned at the plant level.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Track QMS quality metrics and develop plans to achieve targets.
- Address customer complaints by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Leadership:
- Support plant activities to achieve customer certifications and industry quality standards.
- Ensure timely responses to customer actions.
Quality Management System:
- Integrate and implement the client’s QMS at the plant level to meet customer requirements and prevent defects.
- Coordinate internal quality system audits, including VDA process audits (nice to have), and implement corrective actions.
Management:
- Report quality KPIs and customer scorecards to the General Manager and Corporate Quality.
- Collaborate with other managers to address daily quality issues and improve product and process quality.
- Occasionally travel to customer assembly plants to review products and interact with customer personnel.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including supervisory roles.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in the automotive industry.
