Key Responsibilities
- Incident Response: Engage in a 24x7 on-call rotation to address database incidents and outages promptly, even outside regular business hours.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database issues, identifying root causes and escalating to vendors when necessary.
- Support & Documentation: Manage support requests within established service level agreements (SLAs), document troubleshooting processes and solutions in ServiceNow, and maintain standard operating procedures and knowledgebase articles.
- Optimization: Analyze and resolve recurring alert trends to improve system stability and performance, and propose enhancements to systems and automation.
- Project Leadership: Lead and participate in various projects including cloud migration, application modernization, and capacity planning.
Qualifications
- Experience: Over 10 years of experience as an MS SQL Server DBA, with expertise in replication, Always On, and mirroring.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in SQL coding, tuning, PowerShell scripting, and automation. Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SSIS, and SSRS is essential.
- Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and Aurora, as well as cloud deployment tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Terraform.
- Troubleshooting: Strong skills in performance tuning, SQL performance assessments, and knowledge of the MS SQL Server's storage engine.
- Database Management: Expertise in common database tasks such as upgrades, backups, recovery, and migration as well as server resource profiling.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, proactive self-starter with a strong commitment to change-management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Tools: Experience with ticketing and monitoring tools including ServiceNow, Zenoss, Foglight, CloudWatch, and AppDynamics.
- Configuration Management: Familiarity with configuration management tools such as SCCM, Puppet, or Ansible.
