Waterfall Asset Management, LLC is an SEC-registered alternative investment manager focused on specialty finance opportunities within asset-backed credit, whole loans, real assets, and private equity. Specific job responsibilities include:
- The primary responsibility (80%) is to support the members of the Valuation Group in performing monthly independent price verification (“IPV”) for various assets held by Waterfall’s various funds and accounts with a primary focus on Residential whole loan
- Perform various data integrity checks on data files (‘tapes’) for preparation of FV models monthly
- Utilize business intelligence platform (Databricks) and other technologies for business reporting and analysis.
- Remediation of identified breaks in data quality, ongoing data validation and monitoring of data risk.
- Work closely with 3rd party master servicers, direct servicers to ensure integrity of data
- Enforce data governance policies and implement data best practices and controls.
- Secondary responsibility (20%) to support team with more administrative / process oriented tasks
- Build out efficiencies for loading excel based data files into various data models and accounting systems (e.g. Geneva)
- Assist more senior team members in preparation of monthly documentation/presentations detailing investment or sector-level performance that will be presented to senior management and investors
- Participate in Ad Hoc projects/requests in coordination with internal teams like Accounting, IT, and Trade Management and Operations.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience at a Big Four accounting firm, in a bank’s structured finance group, or at other lending industry participant (originations, operations, consulting, etc.); or other relevant experience such as at a fund administrator working on structured credit.
- Subject matter knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Residential/CRE Mortgage Loans, Consumer Lending, Capital Markets, Private Structured debt, Asset-backed bond products, Financial Accounting, etc.
- Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Databricks, Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, Domo, etc.
- Understanding of relational data aggregation systems and data modeling.
- Experience with databases and understanding of SQL or SQL-like languages a plus
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Excel/VBA/PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
