This position will report to the NOC Supervisor. As a member of the NOC team you will contribute to the resolution of site and equipment outages and work closely with other support and dispatch departments to drive issues to resolution.
This position will train during the day for a few weeks, then work Wed-Sat 9 pm to 7 am Eastern Time Zone.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support and direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives
- Organize, plan, assign, and monitor the completion of work
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve network performance problems that have been escalated and unresolved within the NOC teams.
- Provide technical and analytical support in determining the root cause of network problems and implement action plans to resolve potential or active network-impacting issues
- Reproduce and confirm product defects and report such defects to Core Engineering, Development, or Product Management
- Address client and customer inquiries within established timeframes
- Document logical and physical network design changes
- Provide 24x7 on-call support in rotation with other team members
- Work with account management and use change management to request and implement after-hours changes (circuit upgrades, firmware updates, configuration changes)
- Configure network hardware for deployment, including but not limited to switches, routers, servers, APs, NVRs, GPON OLTs, PDUs, Dish Smartbox
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field. Or Associate’s Degree and two years of experience. Or four years of experience within a service provider or network engineering team.
- At least one associate level networking certification (CCNA, CWNA, JNCIA, Network+)
- A flexible schedule must include nights and weekends to perform maintenance activities.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in Linux operating systems and or Mikrotik RouterOS

- Knowledge of Wired Ethernet LANs, Wireless LANs (Wi-Fi), and P2P/P2MP Microwave Wireless solutions. Active Ethernet solutions, xPON solutions
- Knowledge of data network elements such as IP routers, Ethernet switches, firewalls
- Knowledge of IPv4 & IPv6 network technologies such as IP addressing (CIDR, VLSM, HEX), ARP, DHCPv6, SLAAC
- Knowledge of Layer-2 network technologies, including Ethernet LAN/MAN, IEEE standards & 802.3xx, and 802.1q VLAN tagging
- Knowledge of TCP-IP protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP is a plus
- Knowledge of the IEEE 802.11 wireless standards (e.g. b/g/n/ac/ax) & security protocols
- Network automation with Python or Ansible
- Video systems with both IP and RF distribution
- Above-average problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication
