Creative Writers develop and present strategic content recommendations and bring those recommendations to life through high-quality, narrative-based copywriting. They work as part of a team of two to three Creative Writers—known at Carnegie as a pod—and collaborate with other pods and colleagues across divisions to produce winning marketing and recruitment deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate clear and thoughtful content strategies to meet organizational objectives
- Move content strategies to action, creating high-quality, personified, and cohesive narratives across communication types (print, web, social, video, etc.) in ways that distill complex messages and articulate new desirable realities for audiences
- Elevate generic headers, body copy, and calls to action to be more emotive, engaging, and inspiring to multiple audiences
- Champion project collaboration, working to motivate team members and ensure smooth and proactive interactions and processes
- Contribute to innovations and improvements in client-facing products and services as well as internal processes
- Represent content decisions on client discovery and presentation calls with clarity, confidence, and professionalism
Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational and highly developed collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with an extensive client portfolio
- Ability to think outside the box to arrive at bold and innovative storytelling concepts while developing differentiated, compelling, and original creative work
- Public speaking skills for high levels of client interaction and ability to listen carefully and navigate organizational politics
- Excellent grammar and formatting skills as well as familiarity with commonly used style guides to meet high client expectations for professionalism and print readiness
- Proven experience in creative writing and storytelling to deliver on our core promise of authentic, emotive, and moving content
- Thorough knowledge of creative tools, including Adobe, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office, and Miro
- Ability to travel occasionally for one-to-three-night client trips
- Effective communication and time management skills for a remote work environment as well as the ability to use/learn multiple technology platforms and switch between them on a regular basis
- Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field
- At least 3 years of formal writing and/or creative agency experience
- Strong portfolio of case studies that demonstrate measurable success
