Description
In this role, you will play a vital part in making a meaningful difference in the lives of injured workers and their families. You will collaborate closely with these individuals to support their recovery journey, working alongside patients, their families, medical providers, and various team members to ensure comprehensive care. This position requires significant local travel, as you will manage a caseload of workers’ compensation injured workers within a designated area.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Medical Case Management through in-person and telephonic communication with patients, physicians, healthcare providers, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Utilize your medical and nursing expertise to discuss and evaluate current treatment plans with physicians, exploring alternative options as necessary.
- Assess the appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness of patient treatment plans.
- Conduct assessments, create care plans, and monitor patients' progress toward recovery.
- Attend appointments with doctors, healthcare providers, and in some cases, attorneys, to coordinate care.
- Participate in discharge planning conferences at hospitals or long-term care facilities to determine suitable care options and develop effective long-term strategies.
- Conduct initial home visits for evaluations and implement necessary care, including negotiating the delivery of durable medical equipment and nursing services.
- Expect regular travel based on the needs of injured workers, with availability for local travel up to approximately 60% of your workweek/month, and potential overnight travel as required.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and multitasking skills in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Case Manager is ideal; a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation is preferred.
- Ability to engage effectively with patients, physicians, other healthcare providers, attorneys, and colleagues.
- Experience in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office (including Excel).
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
Education And Experience
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Current RN licensure in the state of operation.
- Certification as a Certified Case Manager (CCM), Certified Insurance Rehabilitation Specialist (CIRS), or other relevant Case Management certifications is preferred.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to assigned locations are required.
Compensation
We offer a competitive salary range of \(63,902 - \)96,662, based on a market-based approach that considers various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. For roles with different levels (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.), new hires may be assigned to different levels based on assessments during the interview process, which may affect the salary range.
