About Houston
ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.
By bringing many global functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. It was designed to foster improved collaboration, creativity and innovation and enhance the company’s ability to attract, develop and retain the top talent in the industry.
The campus is located in Spring, Texas, on 385 wooded acres immediately to the west of Interstate Highway 45 (I-45), at the intersection of I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road, approximately 25 miles from the cultural vibrancy of downtown Houston.

What role you will play in our team
System Architects are IT Professionals responsible for architecting and designing IT Solutions and Services, considered to be experts, visionaries, and business to IT liaisons. Focused on service design, implementation and support processes for strategic applications. System Architects ensure that all aspects of an architectural design have been clearly thought out, articulated and fully aligned with business needs while addressing impacts to other underlying platforms and technology components.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain System Architecture models (e.g. System Interaction diagrams) and reference implementations
- Verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of the system architecture
- Deep understanding of the platform and cloud security
- Serve as technical mentor / leader for delivery dev teams
- Occasional consulting on operational issues but not primary role
- Partner with Scrum Master, Product Owner, and the team in defining Technical User Stories
- Support Product roles in engaging and influencing vendors / consultants for system implementation guidance, roadmaps, and features
- Not part of team capacity for day-to-day activities but able to perform hands on tasks.
- Collaborates effectively with other H&P architects
- Partners with Product Owner to identify and prioritize enabler work
- Develops roadmap to mature the environment to support rehosting of on-premise workloads
- Designing Azure-based solutions to meet business requirements
About You
Skills and Qualifications
- Passionate about new technology and desire for technical growth in cloud architecture and security.
- Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities; high results-orientation
- Able to prioritize and manage workload with minimal supervision; proactively identify and carryout tasks of the position; detail oriented; monitor and ensure thoroughness and quality of own work
- Able to be productive when working asynchronously with colleagues; exhibit willingness to help others and ask for help
Required Technical Competencies:
- Experience designing, building, and supporting solutions in a cloud platform
- Network and Cloud security
- Experience working in infrastructure operations and/or administration activities such as server administration, networking support, access administration
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps & CI/CD
- Strong knowledge of the Azure Cloud Platform's features and functionalities
- Expertise in routing protocols (BGP, MPLS, SD-WAN )
- Desirable certifications: AZ-104, AZ 305, AZ 400, AZ 500
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Required Understanding of Network Routing protocols such as BGP
- Required Understanding of network Hub-Spoke models, specifically in the cloud (Azure)
- Required Understanding of Azure Subscriptions, Resource Groups, Networking and common Resources
- Required Experience with PowerShell and Python coding and execution
- Required Experience using GIT/Azure DevOps and deploying via CI/CD pipelines
- Required Software development experience, ideally with the following technologies: PowerShell, C#, Python
- Required Understanding of general network concepts such as address space, CIDR notation, subnet, protocol, routing, NSG, etc.
- Desired Experience working in Agile teams, using Dev Ops practices
- Desired Experience in network design and path-based global routing using BGP
- Desired Experience in network security and policy management using enterprise firewall products
- Desired Experience in building highly scalable and reliable Azure cloud services leveraging Azure PAAS components
- Desired Experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services
