About The Role
Are you a creative and experienced Instructional Designer with a passion for developing engaging and effective training materials? This role offers the opportunity to design and develop a variety of learning solutions, from eLearning modules to instructor-led training sessions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to create high-quality training content that aligns with our organizational goals.
What You’ll Do
- Design & Develop Training Solutions: Create eLearning, virtual, and instructor-led learning experiences for technical, compliance, systems, or soft skills topics, using established instructional design methodologies.
- Collaborate: Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and develop training designs. Define learning objectives, course structures, content, and assessments.
- Analyze & Create Content: Perform detailed analysis of training needs and business processes. Follow established standards and guidelines to produce instructional materials, including storyboards, eLearning modules, guides, and activities.
- Visualize & Write: Develop instructional graphics, scenarios, and interactions. Write clear and effective text for instructional materials, including audio and video scripts.
- Engage & Validate: Participate in meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis and validation sessions. Gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.
- Manage & Communicate: Self-manage tasks and deadlines to ensure timely delivery of materials. Proactively communicate any issues or risks.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 3+ years in developing instructor-led, eLearning, or virtual training, ideally in a technical environment or the utility industry.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and tools like Articulate Storyline, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience in creating web-based training and writing assessments is a plus.
- Attributes: Flexibility to manage multiple development efforts, openness to feedback, and a strong collaborative spirit. Highly organized and detail-oriented with a clear, welcoming communication style.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with training development applications such as QuestionMark and Author-it.
- Knowledge of graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
- Safety knowledge is a plus.
Additional Information
This is a remote position, but candidates based in the Bay Area may be invited to in-person team meetings approximately every 6 weeks. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided if onsite work is required.
