Role Overview
As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the delivery of nursing services under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer. This position is integral to ensuring high-quality patient care and fostering a collaborative environment among healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborative Care: Partner with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to enhance clinical care delivery.
- Patient Care: Address and resolve patient complaints promptly, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Clinical Leadership: Facilitate critical thinking at the bedside and stay informed about each patient's history, progress, and treatment goals.
- Care Coordination: Manage patient assignments as directed and coordinate with ancillary clinical departments to ensure optimal care.
- Education and Training: Develop and lead educational programs for patients, families, and staff; actively participate in the orientation of new employees.
- Direct Care: Provide direct patient care as needed, including taking vital signs, administering medications, IV therapy, and responding to emergencies.
- Audits and Quality Improvement: Work with the Director of Patient Services (DPS) to create and implement department-specific audits and quality improvement projects.
- Staff Management: Conduct walking rounds to assess unit environment and staff issues; review resumes, set up interviews, and participate in staff evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Competency and Compliance: Ensure all staff members have up-to-date competencies, certifications, and registrations. Conduct monthly staff meetings and oversee nursing documentation compliance with state, federal, and accrediting standards.
- Budget and Performance: Review payroll and productivity data, provide input for the nursing department budget, and assist in developing strategies to meet productivity goals.
- Safety and Equipment: Ensure a safe work environment and that appropriate equipment is available and functional on the unit.
- Additional Duties: Participate in hospital-wide committees, manage routine staff meetings, and oversee patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Position Requirements
- Education: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing management or supervisory experience, preferably in Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) or Assisted Living.
- Licensure/Certification: SAMA certification within 30 days of employment; AHA BLS/CPR certification; current tuberculosis test within the first 14 days of employment and annually thereafter. Maintain certification in good standing or obtain within 30 days of hire.
