Description Of Work Unit
The Division of Information Technology (IT), the central IT organization for Colorado State University-Ft. Collins, supports the land-grant heritage of the institution as well as the university's missions of teaching and learning, research, and service. The Division of IT is responsible for delivering enterprise and campus focused IT services for the Ft. Collins campus as well as throughout the CSU-System. Areas of responsibility include Research IT, Application Development and User Support Services, Academic Technology, Cybersecurity & Privacy, Networking and Telecommunications, Infrastructure and Databases, Business Intelligence and Data Integrations, Administrative Applications, and Student Applications.

Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology/CIO, our dedicated 120-person team delivers dynamic and innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs of our students, faculty, and staff. Position Summary
This position is responsible for configuration, installation, and maintenance of the network switching software and hardware used through the CSU system at the Pueblo Campus. Builds switch configurations and implements them based on the customer needs for IT equipment. This position provides tier III support for the CSU system at the Pueblo campus.
Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or similar degree OR any bachelor's degree plus two years of professional experience. Candidates with a High School Diploma (or GED) and equivalent related professional experience (4+ years) will be considered for employment (without the required bachelors or other post-secondary education).
- Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model.
- Ability to work in a high-functioning team environment and possess good written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Two years of experience with one or more networking technologies including routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Demonstrated skill in working as a team member in the evaluation, configuration, installation, maintenance, documentation, and troubleshooting of local area or wide area networks.
- Demonstrated ability to perform network and connectivity troubleshooting and problem resolution for Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) networks.
- Ability to provide technical assistance to customers regarding network operations and capabilities.
- Demonstrated skills in labeling and documenting data connections

- Apply researched and proven methodologies, networking principles, practices, and procedures to configure, maintain, and/or troubleshoot wired and wireless networking systems and protocols (e.g., routers and switches,
- Perform routine wired and wireless network equipment configuration and installations while minimizing the impact on customers.
- Install/replace network hardware and their hardware components as well as make final physical connections for new links between network devices.
- Contribute to information gathering and discovery/confirmation diagnostics under the guidance of Senior Staff during widespread outages.
- Schedule and perform software upgrades including the uploading of network equipment software.
- Work with campus customers and construction groups to implement and troubleshoot issues.
- Perform wireless surveys and implement network monitoring systems to oversee the health of the network.
- Produce documentation for the network architecture and procedures as well as knowledge based for customer
- Primary on-site technical contact for network connectivity Respond to and work with customers regarding network trouble tickets.
- Responsible for on-call and after hours support for networking issues on a rotating basis with network staff
