Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Remote Nurse Triage professional to join our team! In this important role, you will provide accurate and timely medical advice to patients over the phone, ensuring they receive the support and guidance they need—especially during emergencies or outside regular hours. You will assess patient symptoms, deliver medical guidance, and coordinate care, all while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough telephonic assessments of patient symptoms to determine the appropriate levels of care.
- Provide accurate and timely medical advice to patients based on established protocols and guidelines, adhering to the “gold standard” protocols of Schmidt/Thompson.
- Triage patient calls effectively and prioritize medical needs.
- Document all patient interactions and assessments accurately to maintain comprehensive records.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, including physicians and emergency services, to coordinate patient care seamlessly.
- Uphold legal and ethical standards while providing telephonic medical advice and care.
- Utilize medical resources and databases to ensure you provide accurate and current information for patient care.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients to enhance understanding and compliance with medical advice.
- Adapt to a variety of telephonic medical scenarios, managing patient concerns with professionalism.
- Engage in ongoing training and education to stay informed about medical protocols and best practices.
- Maintain empathy and professionalism in all patient interactions.
Shifts Available
This position is primarily for the 12 AM to 8 AM shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Illinois State License required or willingness to apply promptly.
- Compact State Licensure required or willingness to apply promptly.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an emergency or urgent care setting.
- Proven experience in triage nursing or telephone triage.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess and prioritize patient needs accurately and efficiently.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and telephonic communication systems.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
- Knowledge of and adherence to legal and ethical standards in telephonic medical advice.
- Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and support.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (specifically seeking to fill the 12 AM to 8 AM shifts).
- Strong multitasking skills to manage telephonic nursing responsibilities effectively.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and clearances for remote nursing practice.
Position Availability
We offer both full-time (32 hours/week) with benefits and part-time (minimum 15 hours/week) positions.
