Operations Analyst

The Senior Director of Operations will oversee a team of 25 staff, including managers and technicians, within the Recovery & Rehabilitation Center (R&R Center). This position is essential for all operational functions, including intake procedures, daily care, animal enrichment, and coordination of adoption and transport programs. You will work closely with medical and behavior staff to enhance animal welfare and maintain detailed records.
Key Responsibilities:
Development Phase (until end of 2025):
- Lead program development and prepare the Operations Branch, including creating volunteer and foster programs.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to establish operational structures and relationships with community stakeholders.
- Develop an onboarding package for new hires and set a positive team culture.
Implementation Phase (post-2025):
- Oversee shelter operations to ensure the health and well-being of animals through effective care and adherence to protocols.
- Manage and coordinate animal intake, transport, and placement processes.
- Ensure a robust volunteer and foster program, along with an efficient direct adoption program.
- Maintain supplies and ensure compliance with shelter regulations.
Team Leadership:
- Foster teamwork and collaboration among leaders to achieve shared goals.
- Regularly communicate with staff, addressing their concerns and providing guidance.
- Lead the team through challenges common in animal welfare.
People Management:
- Supervise direct reports, conducting regular performance reviews and offering coaching.
- Promote respect and open communication within the team.
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to hire qualified staff.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of shelter operations and animal welfare best practices.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing a team in an animal-related field, with at least 5 years of experience, including 2 years in shelter operations.
- Fear Free® Shelter Program certification required or to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
