The Role
In this position, you will play a pivotal role on our Data Scale team within the Platform Persistence group. Your focus will be on ensuring our systems are highly reliable and scalable, particularly as our largest customers push the boundaries of backend storage in terms of data size, IO speed, and transaction volume.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize our growing data infrastructure to maintain system responsiveness.
- Experiment with and implement new technologies to scale our database solutions.
- Develop and maintain platform technologies that can handle large-scale operations.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, including memory leaks, concurrency problems, and network issues.
- Maintain a deep understanding of backend platform development, focusing on best practices for object-oriented and modularized software.
- Work on complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time.
- Refactor legacy code to improve efficiency and maintainability.
- Quickly learn and apply new technologies as needed.
What You'll Bring
- Over 10 years of experience in software development with a focus on core Java.
- Strong expertise in relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and MySQL.
- Ability to efficiently troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the software stack.
- Experience with backend platform development and a deep understanding of best practices.
- Ability to deliver complex projects on time and navigate legacy code.
- Strong understanding of database technologies and their internal workings.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Unix shell scripting.
- Familiarity with JDBC drivers.
- Experience in a DevOps environment.
- Background in working within customer-focused environments.
- Knowledge of Ruby or Go.
