Position Overview
As a Guest Engagement Associate, you will provide essential program support and assist with security at a low-threshold Non-Congregate Interim Housing location. Your role will involve maintaining a positive, professional, and safe environment while protecting against disruptions. You will utilize problem-solving, empathy, and verbal de-escalation skills to ensure a secure atmosphere for guests. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating check-in and conducting property checks.
- Providing conflict resolution and driving passenger shuttles to the shelter from community pick-up sites.
- Assisting with meal setup/cleanup and light cleaning.
- Coordinating and assisting volunteers in providing meals and other supportive services.
- Performing daily data entry regarding meals, supportive services, and donations.
- Communicating policies and procedures to external constituents.
- Coordinating meetings and referring donations to partner agencies.
Work Environment and Expected Hours
- Schedule: Swing Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
- Tuesday - Saturday OR Thursday - Monday (weekend availability needed)
- Compensation: \(19.18/hr base wage plus a \)1 shift differential for a total of $20.18/hr
Requirements
- Upbeat passion for ending homelessness.
- Desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable neighbors.
- High level of empathy and understanding for people experiencing homelessness.
- Strong responsibility, dependability, and positive attitude.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in cultivating productive relationships with various stakeholders.
- Ability to perform crisis intervention and conflict de-escalation.
- Understanding of quality and timely data collection and reporting.
- Ability to work well with diverse backgrounds.
- Basic computer proficiency including word processing and database management.
- Must pass background checks successfully upon hire and throughout employment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Nice To Have
- Experience in security, shelter coordination, customer service, or volunteer coordination.
- Experience interacting with individuals affected by homelessness and related issues.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Professional experience with Microsoft Suite.
