The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Economic Development department as an
Economic Development Administrator. The Economic Development Administrator will be responsible for businesses attraction, expansion, and retention throughout the City. Corona is home to a diversity of businesses, including large and growing manufacturing, healthcare, retail/commercial, and construction industries. While it is home to a number of major headquarters, the City thrives in large part due to its small and mid size business community. The Economic Development team also plays a key role in implementing the City's Strategic Plan and the Economic Development Strategic Plan.

Knowledge
- Principles, procedures, best practices, information sources, and industry trends in the field of economic development.
- Media resources, marketing techniques, public relations techniques, and incentives for economic development programs.
- Social and economic concepts as applied to economic development programs.
- Local government organization and the functions and practices of an economic development unit.
- Local, regional, and state programs and incentives for business attraction, retention, and expansion, as well as workforce development programs and career pathways.
Skills & Abilities
- Prepare creative and persuasive promotional and advertising materials to support business attraction, growth, and expansion; effectively disseminate promotional content across various channels.
- Conduct persuasive oral and written presentations.
- Plan, develop, and implement assigned programs, projects, and activities in an independent and cooperative manner.
- Evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, develop and implement program improvements, and prepare effective reports.
- Collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders including City officials and staff, government resource agencies, site selectors, commercial brokers, local business owners, property owners and managers, outside consultants, residents, community colleges, universities, local trade organizations, and the County Workforce Development Board.
Education &Experience
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, political science, economics, urban planning, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible economic development experience.
- Must possess a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy.

Candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to a virtual HireVue interview. Candidates who pass the virtual HireVue interview will be invited to the in-person oral interviews tentatively scheduled for October 8, 2024. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

The Organization
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.
The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager’s Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2025 is $399.1 million with a General Fund operating budget of $209.6 million. Corona enjoys a workforce of 922 dedicated employees who provide high quality services to its residents and visitors each day.
