Position Summary
In this role, you will leverage your expertise in a variety of purchasing activities, including pricing, negotiating terms, volume discounts, long-term contracts, and the delivery of goods and services with suppliers. You will apply government laws and regulations during procurement activities while ensuring alignment with management objectives.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Review MRP (SAP) order action messages, maintain schedule and visibility, and identify and resolve issues until shipment.
- Generate work orders and issue purchase orders based on MRP (SAP) messages.
- Negotiate prices and deliveries that align with schedule needs.
- Process changes, reschedules, and outside processing required to meet production schedule goals.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by achieving on-time deliveries of quality products.
- Follow through on special requests and expedites, identifying potential late deliveries and planning recovery.
- Prioritize material handling from receipt to shipment based on schedule requirements and department workload.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct or indirect reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Field of Study/Area of Experience: 5+ years of experience in the production control field, including material/inventory management in a defense or aerospace environment.
Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
- Excellent planning, organizational, and motivational skills.
- Knowledge of MRP (SAP) system is a must.
- General knowledge of machine shop practices and processing standards is helpful.
- Knowledge of military spares standards is beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Computerized MRP systems.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others.
- Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Flexibility and adaptability to the ever-changing needs of the company.
Environmental & Physical Requirements
- Office / Sedentary Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), hear the telephone, enter data on a computer, and may require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. Possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
