Position Summary The Nonprofit Development Manager role presents an engaging opportunity for a dedicated and resourceful individual to support one of the largest human services nonprofits in the Bay Area. You will play a critical role in building a newly forming development function within the organization and assisting the team to meet short- and long-term growth goals. Your role will encompass donor prospecting and relationship management, grants management and project management.
A key function of your role will include supporting the Executive Team and Board of Directors and leveraging them in our development efforts. This includes calendaring, materials management, record-keeping, and compliance to ensure smooth and effective communication and decision making processes. You will collaborate closely with the senior leadership team to augment the organization's capacity and impact. Your efforts will be instrumental in maintaining the rhythm of the organization's operations and in supporting the execution of strategic initiatives.
Essential Job Functions Fund Development
- Supports the newly formed development function within the Growth and Innovation department to build strong systems and processes that will enable us to meet our short- and long-term funding goals.
- Researches, identifies, and cultivates new institutional & individual donor prospects, performs high-quality and strategic prospect research.
- Gathers grant information internally and through market research, identifying opportunities appropriate for our organization.
- Interacts with funders via email, phone, and in-person to develop and deepen relationships through formal and informal touchpoints and stewardship; plans and schedules high quality and engaging site visits for institutional donors.
- Maintains a donor database within Salesforce, creating contacts for current and potential funders and tracking all gifts and activities.
- Works with the executive and program teams to develop persuasive proposal strategies, narratives, and language for new programs and initiatives.
- Creates and maintains a robust and accurate grant proposal template to streamline the grant writing process.
- Crafts inspiring written updates for agency donors; supports general organizational communications including copy, appeal letters and content for newsletters and impact reports.
- Creates and maintains an accurate grants calendar, tracking all grant deliverables and timelines and looping in relevant constituents (Finance, Programs, etc...) in a timely fashion.
- Works closely with the program team to track and report on program outcomes, including research and data related to the field of aging, disability, long term care, training and workforce development.
Executive and Board Relations
- Act as a supporting liaison to the Board of Directors, including Board Committees, assisting with the preparation, review, and follow-up of Board materials including calendars, agendas, minutes, and correspondence.
- Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records including term limits and other annual required activities or communications.
- Help in facilitating effective communication between staff leadership and Board members, ensuring clear and efficient exchanges of information.
- Strategically identify board and leadership connections to facilitate introductions and inroads to new funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with the executive leadership team by providing support in managing special projects and initiatives that span multiple departments and require executive oversight and guidance.
- Provide logistical support and coordination for meetings involving executive staff, both with internal and external parties.

- Support in Communications Management: Able to assist in managing a high volume of digital and print information, transforming it into effective formats for distribution to various audiences, including the Executive Director, executive staff, board, agency management, and external audiences.
- Flexibility and Team Support: Willing to contribute at various levels to ensure the successful functioning of the agency, showing flexibility and a team-oriented approach to all tasks.
- Research Skills: Proficient in conducting thorough research and synthesizing information from various sources to support decision-making and strategic planning.

- Background in Public Policy or Public Health: Demonstrates a solid understanding of public policy or public health, with the ability to apply this knowledge to enhance program development, advocacy efforts, and community outreach initiatives.
Education and Experience College graduate preferred, although we welcome candidates with 2-3 years of experience in an executive assistant or project management role in public health, healthcare administration, or a related field.
Work Environment
This position is hybrid-remote and primarily sedentary, working at a desk in a temperature-controlled office, in modular office space or an individual office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this role is $81,744-$85,218. Homebridge offers health, vision and dental coverage and pays 100% of the premiums for the employee. Paid time-off benefits accrue on a monthly basis from date of hire, which includes 18 days of vacation per year, 1 sick day per month and 11 paid holidays. After six months of employment, the employee is eligible to participate in an employer-paid 403(b) pension plan. Homebridge contributes 7.5% of your annual salary to the 403(b) plan.
