Job Summary:
The Network Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and managing the delivery of IT infrastructure for data communication services. This role ensures the company's network meets current and future needs, supporting various business missions. Key responsibilities include overseeing network installations, maintaining communication systems, managing customer relations, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads the implementation and upkeep of network services, including repairs and upgrades of communication distribution systems.
- Applies expertise as a seasoned communications professional with a comprehensive understanding of industry practices, policies, and procedures.
- Resolves a broad range of complex issues by selecting appropriate methods and techniques to achieve effective solutions.
- Manages customer relationships and oversees the repair and installation of cabling, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, computer information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in communication infrastructure, information technology, or network operations.
- Proven experience in delivering reliable and high-quality data communication infrastructure services and managing large-scale network implementations and upgrades.
- Proficiency in Layer 2 (L2) protocols, including STP, DHCP, 802.1X, LACP, MLAG, VXLAN bridging, and addressing mechanisms (DNS, DHCP, IPAM, etc.), and practical experience with Layer 1 (L1) technologies (e.g., SMF, MMF, DWDM, Transceivers, AOC, Twinax, Fiber fan-outs).
- Strong familiarity with network hardware platforms such as Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, and Brocade.
- Experience delivering solutions based on telecommunications industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ITA, EIA, BICSI).
- Experience in the installation and maintenance of conduits, fiber-optic cables, and copper cables.
- Expertise in designing and deploying large enterprise cabling infrastructures, including outside plant conduit and cable systems.
- Skilled in designing the layout of horizontal cable pathways, telecom rooms, and backbone infrastructure, and conducting budget and pricing activities for cabling systems.
- Experience in writing technical specifications and documentation, creating network equipment diagrams, and collaborating with technical teams.
- Competency in creating and editing telecommunication drawings and developing detailed infrastructure specifications.
- Proficiency with software and tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project, E-builder Copper/Fiber, and various network testing tools.
- Strong ability to read, review, and analyze network construction drawings and author project-specific documents, business requirements, and project proposals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advanced organizational and multitasking skills, with a track record of balancing competing priorities and delivering multiple concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising teams, assigning project responsibilities, and managing project budgets.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify the root causes of complex problems and develop strategic solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:
- BCSI Outside Plant Designer (OSP) and/or BCSI Installer Certifications.
