Job Title: Production Supervisor
Summary
The Production Supervisor manages and communicates with production staff in the day to day operations, supports established procedures and provides recommendations to leadership for process improvements. The Supervisor is hands-on, communicates effectively and maintains productivity across multiple product lines for first shift.
As a Production Supervisor You Will
- Determine the most efficient use of employee resources to accomplish company goals.
- Demonstrate and enforce a commitment to quality and the quality process.
- Prioritize and assign workload to meet schedule based on available resources.
- Maintain productivity by monitoring steps of the process and staff; set processing variables; observe control points and equipment; monitor personnel and resources.
- Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between production lines, drive motivation for team work.
- Prioritize and assign workload to meet multiple line schedules based on available resources.
- Suggest, coordinate and communicate optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
- Make recommendations to increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
- Support efforts to implement cost reductions, including recommendations for appropriate needs on overtime and manpower requirements.
- Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime.
- Recommend improvements to existing plant facilities and equipment; including replacements or adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
- Commit to plant safety procedures.
- Provide coaching and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
- Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and participate in the selection of new staff.
- Provide recommendations to develop plant staff, overall performance and corrective actions.
- Administer discipline as required, coaches for improved performance.
- Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.
- Uphold a visual facility utilizing lean techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You’re a great fit for this position if this describes you:
- High school diploma with relevant experience in the field OR Associate’s Degree in a related field.
- 3-4 years of plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.
- Proficient in current computer software: MS Applications Word, Excel, and understanding of ERP systems.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Able to regularly stand up to 12 hours per day, walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.
- Occasionally lifting-up to 50 pounds.
- Possess excellent motor coordination and be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and sit.
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions, directions and other communication in English.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse projects including, analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem solving, decision making and carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision.
- Must handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
- Able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment.
