The Staff Accountant will perform accounting duties mainly in the areas of carrying out the functions of Accounting Payable and Payroll for multi-properties. As part of the accounting team, the Staff Accountant serves as a trusted resource to property management teams and the Home Office. They will report to the Executive Director of Finance with a strong dotted line to the property DOF / Controller.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies as well as state and federal laws, as applicable to Accounts Payable and Payroll functions.
- Serve as a support resource to Executive Director of Finance, property DOF/Controller and Management.
- Be responsible for all Accounts Payable duties and responsibilities
- Be responsible for all multi-property Payroll functions
- Working knowledge of payroll rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of processing garnishments, 401K deductions, 401K match, tips, service charge.
- Familiarity with 941’s and W-2 filings.
- Work closely with the Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, Assistant Director of Finance, and the Human Resources team.
- Facilitate and be readily accessible via remote office to property teams, the Home Office and vendors as needed, with a heightened sense of responsibility during payroll weeks for employee payroll inquiries.
REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES:
- A minimum of 5 years of previous accounting experience is preferred.
- Previous hospitality industry experience is highly desired.
- Appropriate combination of education and work experience to support on-the-job effectiveness.
- Experience in working with M3 accounting system is a plus.
- Knowledge of ADP WFN HR/Payroll system is necessary.
- Knowledge of and being proficient in bi-weekly payroll process, submission of payroll for processing and ability to step in, to process payroll is very desirable.
- Capability for effective communication with all levels of staff and management, both verbally and in written formats.
- Proactive approach, with exceptional initiative and problem-solving abilities to ensure the highest levels of productivity and guest satisfaction.
- Schedule flexibility and ability to work extended and/or irregular hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays, if necessary.
