Role Overview:
As a Financial Analyst, you will be integral in managing and improving the accuracy of budget forecasts and financial analysis across a large, enterprise-level organization for the IT Engineering Services PMO. Your role will involve analyzing a broad range of budgetary data, identifying discrepancies and anomalies, and ensuring that financial information is accurately categorized and presented. You will work closely with multiple departments to provide actionable insights, develop process improvements, and support data-driven decision-making. This position requires a proactive, solution-oriented approach to handle a dynamic and evolving financial landscape.
Requirements:
- Experience: Extensive experience in financial analysis, ideally within a large, enterprise-level organization.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel for data extraction and presentation, with experience using ServiceNow. Knowledge of PowerBI is advantageous but not essential.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify discrepancies, and understand financial anomalies.
- Process Improvement: Experience in creating process maps, establishing governance, and driving process improvements.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear, digestible format to senior leaders and directors.
- Budget Management: Experience with department-based budgeting, monthly financial monitoring, and variance analysis. Familiarity with contract renewals is beneficial.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis: Analyze a variety of budgetary line items and financial data to identify similarities, anomalies, and discrepancies. Ensure data accuracy and alignment with forecasting needs.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies, such as incorrect department allocations or placeholder entries. Propose and implement corrective actions to improve data integrity.
- Data Presentation: Transform complex financial data into clear, actionable reports and visualizations for directors and senior leaders, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Process Mapping: Develop and maintain process maps for financial data flows, enhancing governance and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support financial analysis across 11-12 departments, working with cross-functional and matrixed groups to address their budgeting and forecasting needs.
- Monthly Monitoring: Oversee department-based funding and budget performance, conducting monthly reviews to ensure adherence to financial targets and managing variances within a 5% +/- range.
- Executive Engagement: Present financial insights and recommendations to executives, demonstrating strong executive presence and engaging proactively in discussions to challenge and refine financial strategies.
