The Role:
Synapticure is seeking an IT Engineer who is eager to learn new tools and excel in a mission-driven environment. The role involves a blend of IT operations, support, and the potential to expand into DevOps and Security responsibilities, depending on the candidate's interests and experience. A strong candidate will have excellent communication skills, a service-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. Familiarity with security practices, experience with tools such as Google Workspace Administration and MDM software, and a willingness to contribute to a wide range of IT and security tasks are essential for success in this position.
Job Duties – What You’ll Be Doing
IT Management:
- Assist with or manage daily IT operations, including access management, system administration, onboarding, hardware and software management, and user support
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations
- Maintain and update documentation related to IT systems and processes
- Ordering of office and medical supplies
DevOps/Security Responsibilities:
- Assist with compliance duties with SOC2 and HIPAA standards
- Assist with regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Assist with development and enforcement of IT security policies and procedures to safeguard organizational assets
- Implement and manage security measures to protect sensitive healthcare data and ensure compliance with industry regulations
- Optionally, assist with DevOps duties such as deployment of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), database management, VPN management, and providing general support to the software and data engineering teams
General Duties:
- Provide technical support and training to staff, ensuring they can effectively use IT systems and tools
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of new technologies and systems that align with organizational goals
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in IT
Requirements – What We Look For In You
- 2+ years of IT or similar technical experience
- Experience with Google Workspace Administration
- Experience with MDM Software and concepts
- Ability to interface with a diverse set of company resources, from finance team members to patient-facing clinicians
- A service-oriented mindset and willingness to help out on a wide range of issues.
- Experience having worked for organizations abiding by common IT security frameworks
- An understanding of security best practices, and a critical eye for identifying potential vulnerabilities or areas of non-compliance
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Familiarity working with PHI in a HIPAA-compliant environment
- Experience with DevOps concepts, Terraform and other infrastructure management tools, or software deployment tools
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Familiarity working with security tools such as firewalls and SIEM platforms
- Experience with scripting languages for IT automation, such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
- Experience with software development and knowledge of software best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience in IT support and system administration
- Basic understanding of IT security principles and practices, including experience with security tools and protocols
