Description
We are seeking candidates who can enhance criminal history records by researching and collecting court documents and entering this data into a designated web portal. This position involves collecting court documentation from Indiana, other states, military, federal sources, etc., to assist in registration efforts for the State of Indiana. The incumbent will report to the Sex and Violent Offender Registration and Victim Services Division of the Indiana Department of Correction. This is a hybrid position requiring three days in the office and offering two days of remote work each week once training is completed.
Essential Functions
- Research and collect court documents and sentencing information.
- Analyze and interpret the documents collected.
- Communicate with local and state law enforcement agencies.
- Enter data into a designated web portal.
- Perform related duties as assigned by division staff.
Job Requirements
- Broad experience with data collection and data entry.
- Broad knowledge of the Indiana Criminal Code.
- Thorough knowledge of the Department of Correction and all levels of the Criminal Justice System.
- Experience and comfortability with court documents and legal jargon.
- Broad knowledge of national criminal justice research resources.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and process detailed and sensitive crime-related data.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with department staff and external agency staff.
Difficulty of Work
- The incumbent must handle multiple complex tasks and make informed decisions based on knowledge and understanding of specific questions and assignments.
- The incumbent must use various methods to achieve the desired outcomes of tasks and must be timely and accurate in completing all assignments.
- Accuracy is crucial; consequences of inaccurate data may include negative public perception of the Department and potential public safety risks.
- The incumbent will work independently, with work being reviewed periodically for accuracy, compliance with policy, and overall Department goals.
Personal Work Relationships
- The incumbent must maintain working relationships with all Department personnel to discuss projects related to their needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Equivalent work experience may also be considered.
