Position Overview: Charp Consulting is seeking a highly motivated Public Relations Intern to assist with our event initiatives for Charp Connections. This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in public relations and event management while working closely with our team. The ideal candidate will have media contacts within the New York/New Jersey area or possess the skills to research and establish appropriate media connections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute PR strategies to promote Charp Connections events, including collaborating on press releases, conducting media outreach, and fostering influencer partnerships.
- Research and identify media contacts and outlets in the New York/New Jersey area to enhance event visibility and media coverage.
- Assist with planning and coordinating both in-person and virtual events.
- Support the social media team in creating and managing content that promotes events and engages the community. Interest in design, a plus!
- Monitor media coverage and social media engagement related to Charp Connections events.
- Draft and distribute event communications, including invitations and follow-up emails.
- Attend and assist at events as needed, providing support with event setup, breakdown, and content capture (only if located near the events).
- May perform administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, managing event calendars, and organizing materials as it pertains to public relations efforts.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field.
- Experience or connections within the New York/New Jersey media landscape is a plus.
- Ability to research and identify relevant media contacts and outlets is highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a basic understanding of public relations and special events.
- Highly self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) and basic content creation.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn, with the ability to adapt to a remote work environment.
- Prior experience in public relations, event planning, or social media is a plus but not required.
