Technical Support II – San Diego, CA
LHH Recruitment Solutions is working with our client in
San Diego, CA to find a
Tech Support II specialist. This role involves investigating, researching, and resolving complex software application issues and operating system modification requests. The ideal candidate will also mentor junior team members, providing technical expertise and support.
Location: San Diego, CA
Compensation: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour, depending on experience
Employment type: ongoing contract
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates expertise in technical support concepts, practices, and procedures; independently identifies, researches, and resolves complex service issues.
- Escalates observed patterns of customer pain points; reviews historical incidents to identify systematic issues.
- Provides advanced support for customer requests and complaints, triaging issues for timely resolution, and thoroughly documenting progress.
- Recommends process improvements for efficiency and updates installation guides and workflows accordingly. Collaborates with IT teams to implement updated processes across departments.
- Installs and maintains hardware and peripheral components, including monitors, keyboards, printers, and scanners, for end-users.
- Installs phone systems and provides technical support for both onsite and remote users.
- Loads and provides training on approved software applications (e.g., operating systems, Microsoft Office, in-house applications).
- Replaces or repairs defective hardware and software packages.
- Provides tutorials on how users can access systems remotely utilizing OWA, VPN, and/or Citrix.
- Creates Active Directory and Exchange user accounts with a focus on security.
- Ensures all Key Process Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Manages Major Incidents and communicates clearly and promptly with the organization.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a desktop support or technical support role.
- A+ and/or Network+ certifications preferred.
- Expertise in standard computer hardware, software, video conferencing, telephony technologies, and Windows operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of office operations and current technologies in communications, data entry, and file management.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and escalate issues when necessary.
