Job Summary
Overall Purpose:
Seeking to maintain and increase the overall business within the Electronic Banking Department by maximising the potential of our service offerings which include our Acquiring, Issuing and Payments’ arms. Taking advantage of the overall services offered by the Bank across different departments and tap into such to offer a comprehensive package to our merchants. Having an outgoing personality, feels at ease in communicating with merchants, initiating conversations, have a sales acumen and is well organised are key interpersonal skills required for this job.
Key Responsibilities
The job holder will be responsible for:
Business Generation
- Cultivating and nurturing relationships with merchants to promote the sale of Electronic Banking Products.
- Collaborating with merchants to understand their business needs and recommend suitable solutions.
- Providing ongoing support and training to merchants on the effective use of our products
- Acting as a liaison between merchants and Bank of Valletta, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
- Conducting regular check-ins at merchants’ premises and through online communication channels.
- Carrying out follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction and identify upselling opportunities.
- Being able to resolve complaints and deliver an exhaustive reply verbally or in writing as the case may demand.
- Performing regular on-site visits at customer’s offices and retail outlets including cold calling.
- Identifying opportunities through close collaboration with other Bank Departments.
- Negotiating terms established with stakeholders based on what is agreed by management.
Maximising business potential
- Staying informed about industry trends and competitors to offer valuable insights for internal improvements and subsequent upgrades.
- Following-up and maintaining a great relationship with all internal stakeholders.
- Drafting any documentation and prepare presentations as required.
- Identifying potential for increase in business, trigger action plans and help in their implementation.
Coordination, monitoring and data handling
- Coordinating with internal teams to streamline processes and enhance merchant experience.
- Monitoring and analysing merchant performance, providing feedback and proposing improvements when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate records of interactions and transactions with merchants.
- Participating in the preparation, compilation and analysis of daily, weekly and monthly reports and other ad-hoc reports, including specific merchant statistics, and take action as required.
- Making sure to follow up on business leads in a timely and effective manner, together with ensuring that all due diligence is completed in a timely manner and signed contracts retrieved from merchants.
In addition to the specific functions, management may assign more duties as required for the job from time to time.

Required Experience
- Possess a minimum of three (3) years’ proven work experience in a banking, financial services and/or customer service role.
Desirable Criteria
- Preference may be given to candidates possessing a qualification at MQF Level 5 or higher in any one of the following areas: Banking, Business and Management.
