Job Summary:
Mountain Valor Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight for all development activities. This role is crucial in ensuring the foundation's financial stability and growth by developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan, cultivating relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations, and overseeing grant writing and reporting processes. The
ideal candidate will have a proven track record in development and fundraising, strong leadership skills, and the ability to align fundraising strategies with the organization’s goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership:
o Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all development
activities.
o Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that supports the organization’s mission and goals.
o Set annual fundraising goals and create strategies to achieve them.
• Relationship Management:
o Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors,
and foundations.
o Develop and implement strategies for donor engagement and retention.
o Represent the organization at fundraising events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
• Grant Writing and Reporting:
o Oversee the grant writing process, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and submitting applications.
o Ensure compliance with grant requirements and manage grant reporting processes.
o Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for grant
applications and reports.
• Collaboration and Coordination:
o Collaborate with the executive team to align fundraising strategies with
organizational goals.
o Work closely with the Fundraising and Development Manager, Major Gifts
Officer, Corporate Partnerships Manager, and other development staff to coordinate fundraising efforts.
o Provide regular updates and reports to the executive team and board of
directors on fundraising progress and challenges.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in development and fundraising, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
• Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
• Experience with donor management software and fundraising platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
Additional Information:
• Location: The position is Remote with the headquarters in Denver, Colorado; with responsibilities that may require occasional travel between sites.
• Compensation: Currently Volunteer Based with the potential of annual salary commensurate with experience, dependent on fundraising.
