Description
Are you passionate about data governance and eager to make an impact? In this role, you will develop and implement processes to support our data governance objectives, collaborating closely with various stakeholders to enhance institutional data quality and governance. You will be part of the Office of Institutional Research, reporting to the Associate Provost for Institutional Research, and working alongside IT, consulting teams, and other campus members.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance
- Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of data governance initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership to enhance data governance policies, frameworks, and strategies.
- Establish and monitor mechanisms to track the impact of data governance programs and implement improvements.
- Engage with external partners and industry experts to stay updated on data governance trends and best practices.
- Lead cross-functional teams to improve data quality and manage data governance-related projects.
- Research best practices in data governance from other institutions.
Solutions Management
- Manage data governance systems, including reviewing and advising on new features and upgrades.
- Configure and manage system access controls.
- Maintain knowledge of core systems and their functionalities.
Collaboration and Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external teams to achieve shared goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison to data stewards and establish effective communication channels.
Training and Development
- Train and mentor colleagues on data governance principles.
- Develop and deliver training programs and workshops for stakeholders.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance subject matter expertise.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of relevant experience in a technical or functional role with data.
- Familiarity with project management tools and techniques.
- Ability to develop methods for implementing institutional initiatives.
- Strong communication skills and experience in training and support.
- Proven ability to collaborate, lead, and influence across teams.
Preferred
- Experience with data governance in an academic environment.
- Demonstrated success in driving projects forward.
- Experience synthesizing information for senior leaders.
- Familiarity with administrative and software systems related to data governance.
- Experience as a subject matter expert on data governance policies and processes.
