Contract Opportunity: Snowflake Data Engineer

We are seeking an experienced data engineer for a contract role with a dynamic media and advertising consulting firm. Their mission is to empower businesses and brands by harnessing data-driven insights to enhance their marketing strategies and improve decision-making.
About the Role:
In this contract position, you will help refine our technology stack and implement data ingestion pipelines for various media and advertising datasets. We are looking for someone passionate about optimizing costs and workloads within a cloud data environment, particularly with Snowflake. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tuning databases and is knowledgeable about cost-compute optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently deploy research and statistical models within Snowflake., ensuring compute efficiency and contextual understanding of the data.
- Optimize Snowflake for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide guidance on Snowflake capabilities to meet various business and technical use cases in media and advertising.
- Offer production support for data warehouse issues, including data load problems, transformation issues, and query optimization.
- Take ownership of your work and collaborate with various functions across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Snowflake is required.
- Strong experience in query optimization and familiarity with Snowflake features, such as sort keys, and query acceleration.
- Solid experience in SQL.
- Background in working with diverse external datasets, including cleaning, joining, and processing data; experience with media and advertising data sources is a plus.
- Familiarity with dbt and orchestration systems is highly valued.
- Proven experience building and operating data pipelines in production environments.
