My research group within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Florida International University invites applications for an open Ph.D. position. The area focuses on sorption-based, high-pressure membrane-based, and advanced oxidation processes for the removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, as well as other refractory micropollutants, from impacted water streams.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in civil and/or environmental engineering or equivalent, with a solid foundation in chemistry and process engineering, is required. Candidates who have completed their coursework but have not yet finalized their master's thesis are also eligible to apply and are encouraged to conduct their thesis at FIU in collaboration with your current institution prior to commencing the Ph.D. program in my research group.
- Willingness to design and build bench and pilot-scale systems
- Ability to work independently, mentor students, and collaborate in a team
- Experience with analytical lab instruments (e.g., LC-MS, TOC analyzer) and proficiency in data analysis
- Excellent written and spoken English
