General Job Description
The Director of Social Services will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Social Services
Department. They will also serve as a liaison for overseeing a staff of Case Managers, Client Care Coordinators,
Housing Specialists, Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselors, Employment Specialist, Residential
Aides, Justice Coordinators, and Recreation Coordinators.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Ensure all new clients receive social service intakes within 48 hours of assignment to case manager.
- Monitor and track client intakes and move outs utilizing client rosters.
- Oversee case manager supervisors and ensuring all case files are up to date.
- Communicate with peers in other programs on issues related to client progress
- Teach and coach all staff in regards to how interact with clients
- Conduct weekly staff meetings
- Review all signature sheets such as nightly roster and sign in sign out sheets
- Communicate with other Directors of the facility to make sure team work is involved
- Is on call 24 hours a day/seven days a week in case of emergencies.
- Intervene and review all client complaints
- Oversees all clinical services including programming, staff supervision, client/ staff interviewing, and case files.
- Make sure all independent living plans are completed in a timely manner
- Complete performance evaluations in conjunction with Program Director
- In the event of an emergency, Essential Employees are required to report to work as scheduled
- Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based upon company assessment of needs
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services
- Master’s Degree is preferred
- Must have at least 5 years work experience within a Social Services setting
- Extensive experience working with the homeless population, specifically families with children is preferred
- Must be motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, and exhibit a positive attitude to be an excellent role model for clients and staff members
- Must be an assertive and confident individual with the ability to lead
- Must be able to confidently and efficiently communicate (verbally and in writing)
- Previous Program experience with program directing and DHS Cares is a plus
