Job Title: Project Manager - Transit Systems
Overview
The Project Manager oversees a complex transit system project, ensuring that project personnel, production schedules, and budgets align with owner agreements and company standards. This role requires a deep understanding of transit system construction, adept leadership, and the ability to navigate intricate stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Manage all project facets - construction, budget, cash flow - ensuring adherence to contracts and owner expectations.
- Planning and Scheduling: Develop and oversee project schedules, pay estimates, procedures, and equipment resources.
- Team Management: Build and manage the project team, assigning roles and responsibilities for each phase.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical input during project bidding and interviews. Analyze contracts and resolve conflicts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engage with stakeholders (partners, landowners, businesses, regulatory bodies) to ensure project success.
- Risk Management: Collaborate with the construction management team to identify and mitigate risks. Negotiate change orders when needed.
- Reporting: Prepare and present monthly project reports to executive leadership.
- Project Closeout: Lead project closeout, including finalizing paperwork, securing retainages, and resolving claims. Conduct project debriefs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field preferred
- 15+ years of construction project management experience, including significant transit system projects
- 10+ years of experience in personnel management
- Proven success with various project delivery methods (bid-build, CMCG, design-build, etc.)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Proven ability to identify, track, and manage project risks
- Skillful in managing multiple departments and teams towards a unified project goal
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop project personnel
- Strong financial acumen, able to analyze and interpret documents to identify and mitigate risks
- Advanced negotiation skills to secure favorable project terms and resolve disputes
- Passion for promoting the company brand and fostering positive client relationships
