Job Summary:
The process/application engineer improves the productivity of the operations by reducing machining time and optimizing setup and changeover. The engineer will optimize tooling to reduce cost, increase capacity and improve quality. Work with a range of tooling suppliers to identify and test tooling. The engineer is responsible for minimizing the number of fixtures necessary by modifying them to be as universal as possible. The position will help operations develop and execute plans for operations improvements. This position is the interface between new product planning and manufacturing from order release through to making chips, assuring that the optimal cutting and work-holding tooling is available when it is required.

Principal Area of Responsibility:
-Create manufacturing plans, tooling drawings, and sketches for new customer orders.
Support manufacturing in the following areas:
-Develop and lead tooling development programs and projects to improve machining and setup times leading to increased capacity dramatically.
-Oversee and track new tooling during manufacturing.
- Identify and implement cost-effective ways to reduce manufacturing lead times by reducing machine and/or queue times.
- Track and report cost savings.
- Troubleshoot production problems and advise production supervisors
- Team with supervisors, programmers, and process engineers to solve issues with new products and processes.
- Support Supervisors with research and problem-solving regarding corrective actions and non-conformance events.
- Active participant in APQP process.
- Support supervisors and production control for the Engineering Change process
- Support Lean initiatives across the operations organization.
