Job Description:
The State University of New York is seeking a half-time (50%) Project Manager to manage the new Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Mental Health Scholars Program and EOP Engineering Scholars Program. The programs seek to improve outcomes for EOP students pursuing careers in mental health and engineering. The incumbent will serve as the primary point of contact for these two programs; developing, implementing, and system-wide programming associated with these initiatives. While serving as a member of the Office of Opportunity Programs professional team, the incumbent will work closely with SUNY faculty associated with the initiative, as well as EOP staff across the SUNY system. The incumbent will report the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life, Opportunity Programs, and Student Advocate.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage student application process for the Engineering and Mental Health EOP Scholars Program
- Coordinate all Systemwide workshops and webinars for the program.
- Manage logistic for all major program events, including in-person convenings, field trips, and conference participation.
- Monitor academic progress and program participation of all students.
- Maintain updated transcripts and career development plans for all participating students.
- Work with EOP team to determine academic support needs of each participating students and connect students with academic supports as needed.
- Develop, design and implements professional development programming for participating students.
- Maintain ongoing communication with faculty leads on all participating campuses.
- Develop relationships with relevant academic departments on each campus.
- Develop and maintain a repository of internship, fellowship, scholarship, research, and employment opportunities for program participants.
- Serve as primary contact for prospective employers and internship supervisors.
- Act as manager for all initiatives associated with the Engineering and Mental Health EOP Scholars Program.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program, preferably in higher education, psychology, counseling, or a related field
Experience
- Experience working in higher education
- Three years experience in programs supporting success of students of promise from underserved backgrounds
- Project management or administration experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work well with students, faculty, and academic administrators
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Experience coordinating career pathway programs
- Background in mental health or engineering field
Additional Information
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $35,000-$40,000 annually.
- This position is Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
