As Chimera's Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting the Firm's data infrastructure from the ground up with a focus on accuracy, completeness, speed and security. This individual will work closely with the operations and technology teams to develop and implement a data solution for use within the Firm. The ideal candidate will have experience architecting at least one data system from the ground up and a strong background in data provisioning, administration, and manipulation. Excellent communication and technical skills with a focus on security and accuracy are a must.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a solution that combines and maintains multiple datasets for analysis within the Firm
- Manage processes for data import, data quality, and system reliability
- Understand data sources and their details
- Collect initial and ongoing requirements
- Be the "go-to" person for system utilization and governance, including advising users on best practices
- Stay up to date on industry trends and technologies related to data engineering and analytics
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Experience provisioning and administrating data / machine learning infrastructure
- Experience with data-at-scale and Big Data Frameworks
- Experience building internal or external data apps / model building / ingestion / transformation etc
- Experience with container-based development / infrastructure
- Strong Python and other high-level language fluency (C# and JavaScript are a plus)
- Strong Linux (and bash/sh/js) scripting experience
- Strong SQL/NoSQL skills
- Strong knowledge of Data Science fundamentals
