Sr. Research Associate – Scientist I, Biology
Position Description and Scope:
We are excited to welcome a motivated individual to our Translational Medicine team. The successful candidate will be a hands-on cell and molecular biologist, bringing valuable research expertise and skills to our organization. Reporting to the Associate Director of Translational Medicine, the candidate will play a key role in supporting ongoing clinical trials, developing biomarker assays, and contributing to various aspects of the drug discovery process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Independently design, develop, validate, and perform various cell-free and cell-based assays to evaluate the activity of potential microRNA therapeutics and to elucidate the mechanism/function of specific molecular targets in vitro.
- Independently design, plan, execute, and interpret experiments to support the discovery and development of assays and novel biomarkers.
- Execute experiments while adhering to standard practices, procedures, and established protocols.
- Work collaboratively with other scientists to coordinate and execute clinical and non-clinical studies.
- Ability to work with human specimens including but not limited to whole blood and urine.
- Maintains accurate lab records, document data, and prepares written reports, protocols, and presentations summarizing experimental and project status.
- Communicate and present research findings with internal teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field, with 4+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Extensive hands-on experience with various cell and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture (primary and stable cell lines), transfection, stable cell line generation, MSD, ELISA, RNA purification, RT-qPCR, western blots, and other standard cell-based or biochemical assays.
- Experience in designing cell-based and biochemical assays to support mechanism of action studies.
- Proficient in using GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Capable of multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master’s degree (MS) in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field, along with 2+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, or a PhD in a related discipline with no required industry experience.
- Proficiency with platforms such as Fluidigm, Hamilton, and JESS.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and exosome research.
- Familiarity with microRNA biology, kidney disease, and biomarker discovery.

- The expected hiring range for this multi-level position is $80,000 to $112,000 per year, commensurate with educational level and experience.
