Senior Project Manager – OMC5
TI Corp is looking for a dynamic and innovative Project Manager to play a crucial role in the Operations and Maintenance Centre (OMC5) Project, a major transit and transportation initiative that supports the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project. Reporting to the Technical Manager, OMC5, you will oversee key components of the project, ensuring successful execution through all phases of the project management life cycle.
The position is responsible for progressing the work on the project Business Case and assisting with technical and design review to ensure compliance with approved design submissions and contractual requirements.
The ideal candidate for this position is an innovative major project professional, who has broad experience with a variety of project disciplines and all phases of the project management life cycle, including preparation of business cases, proposal writing, transit, and transportation works.
Key Accountabilities
- Work with a team of engineers, project managers, design groups, multiple internal and external stakeholders, and partners to project manage and administer associated design consultancies/contracts.
- Support the technical team in advancing the works related to the preparation of the Business Case and related plans including liaising with TransLink and other stakeholders.
- Review documentation received from the designers and contractors (e.g., material specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans, drawings, test results, and other technical documentation) to gather and disseminate information about the project.
- Monitor the contractor’s compliance with professional and regulatory requirements, technical specifications, design drawings and owner requirements.
- Prepare presentations and provide updates to corporate and program executives on project status.
- Develop Daily Site Reports.
- Provide feedback on the validity of claims received from the consultants/contractor.
- Provide support to the Province’s Quality Manager, Traffic Manager and Construction Manager with respect to identifying potential non-conformances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or engineering and five years of recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related experience should include the following:
- Experience in a leadership role in components of large provincial projects involving a diverse range of project portfolios.
- Experience with writing business cases or proposals.
- Experience analysing potential issues and developing solutions to mitigate impacts.
- Managing relationships with senior level internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing oversight of a project’s broader project controls, including finance, budget, forecasting, change management, contract management, and risk.
Skills:
- Proven leadership in large projects with diverse portfolios.
- Experience in writing business cases or proposals.
- Strong analytical skills to assess issues and develop effective solutions.
- Proficient in managing relationships with senior-level stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of project controls, including finance, budget, forecasting, change management, contract management, and risk.
Preferred Experience:
- Proven track record of leading large projects to meet scheduled milestones.
- Experience with Quality Management principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
- Exceptional judgment, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
