Position Summary
This is a temporary position, estimated to run for at least six (6) months with the possibility for extension. Reporting to Sr. Innovation Manager, Dehydrated Vegetables and Chiles, the Technician willperform innovation projects and initiatives for Olam Food Ingredients (ofi). The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Sr. Food Scientist with Stability studies and day to day customer requests. This position will work closely with the innovation team to drive the global strategy and deliver value generating innovation solutions and work with the team to provide solutions to meet both internal and external customer needs. They will perform required analysis of the food, ingredients, raw and finished goods, analyze data, interpret results, perform data entry, and write reports.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a technical background. They should be comfortable collaborating with innovation management and internal stakeholders, as well as working with minimal supervision to ensure deadlines are met. They should work well under multiple competing demands and be able to successfully manage workload.
Position Responsibilities
- Work on multiple projects, communicate, and with internal stakeholders.
- Ability to follow an experimental design to set up stability studies, sensory tastings and data entry of results.
- Ability to perform basic analytical analysis for food products.
- Follow standard operating procedures for the laboratory or kitchen facilities.
- Follow formulations and recipes for compounding food products for sampling to internal and external customers.
- Organize raw materials and maintain laboratory equipment as required.
- Maintain accurate records of formulations, procedures, and processes in appropriate innovation systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Food Chemistry, or related field.
- Three years of relevant work experience in the food, flavor or chemical related industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
- Understanding of basic food recipes and processing is required.
- Great attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and communicate with internal and external stakeholders is required.
