AI/ML Engineer - Junior Level
Why This is an Exciting Role:
As a Junior AI/ML Engineer at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics, you will be responsible for providing application development and support to an eco-system of big data apps in a collaborative environment.
Here are some of the roles and responsibilities for a junior AI/ML Engineer at BI&A:
- Data Collection: Assisting in gathering datasets from various sources.
- Data Cleaning: Handling missing data, removing duplicates, and ensuring the dataset is ready for modeling.
- Data Transformation: Normalizing or scaling features and converting categorical data into numerical formats.
- Algorithm Implementation: Implementing basic machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification) using libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Model Training: Running training processes on datasets, tuning hyperparameters, and monitoring performance metrics.
- Model Evaluation: Using validation techniques like cross-validation and calculating metrics (e.g., accuracy, precision, recall) to assess model performance.
- Feature Selection: Identifying and selecting the most relevant features that will improve model accuracy.
- Feature Creation: Creating new features from existing data that may enhance model predictions.
- Team Collaboration: Working with data scientists, senior engineers, and domain experts to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Documentation: Writing clear and concise documentation for the code, models, and processes developed, ensuring reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
- Integration: Working with DevOps teams to integrate models into existing systems or pipelines.

Experience and Qualifications:
To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:
Required Education and Years of Experience:
- 2+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 0+ years of professional experience with a Master's degree or equivalent
- Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with Python, Java, Jupyter, NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, Scikit-learn
- CI/CD tool experience (Gitlab, Jenkins)
- Microservices Architecture
- Familiarity with OpenCV, TensorFlow, C#, MATLAB, JavaScript, Docker, MySQL
Desired Qualifications:
- Utilizing Cloud Platform technologies, preferably AWS
- Big Data Tools (Elasticsearch, Splunk, NiFi, Kafka)
- Agile/ Scrum experience
- Experience building and deploying Docker-based applications
Telework/Remote Availability: Hybrid work schedule; 16-hours per week approved
Work Location: New Providence, NJ; Annapolis Junction, MD; Elkridge, MD; Washington, DC, Reston, VA
Summary Pay Range:
Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
$111,000 - $125,000
