Established in 1982, Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Centre (RIWC) is a community-based registered charity founded with a mission to empower immigrant and minority women and their families. RIWC delivers its services through a holistic and integrated service framework that addresses the social, cultural, and economic determinants of healthy and vibrant immigrant
communities.
RIWC is currently seeking a Project Coordinator for a two-year contract who will be responsible for working with a cross-section of community partners over two years to develop a DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Leadership Strategy and launch an employer outreach strategy to promote the economic inclusion of newcomers, racialized women, and gender-diverse people in Toronto’s labour market.
Reports to the Executive Director
Responsibilities:
- Engage employers and relevant stakeholders in the community to complete project activities.
- Work with the Evaluation Consultant and Researcher to develop an evaluation framework and complete a review of existing research and initiatives in the community.
- Work with the Researcher to identify barriers to inclusion and economic security for newcomer, racialized and gender-diverse people in Toronto’s labour market.
- Research the latest innovations in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, gather data, and develop materials to host eight roundtable discussions with community stakeholders.
- Work with the Researchers to finalize and develop a DE&I Leadership Strategy and Employer Toolkit.
- Engage employers from our target labour market sector to distribute and implement DE&I Leadership Strategy in the community.
- Provide input into the design and development of marketing materials and promotion.
- Work with the staff team to host a community Job Fair at the end of the project to promote our strategy and tools and increase access to employment opportunities for underrepresented groups in the community.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director and the Evaluation Consultant.
- Write the required Project reports.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Employment, and Social Sciences, or a related field. A graduate degree is an asset.
- Proven work experience as a DE&I Manager or Project Coordinator or in a similar role with a focus on implementing successful DE&I strategies and programs.
- In-depth knowledge of DE&I principles, best practices, and emerging trends in Toronto’s labour market.
- Familiarity with applicable labour laws and regulations related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to use evaluation metrics to drive decision-making and measure the impact of DEI initiatives in the community.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employers at all levels to build a culture of inclusivity.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders to champion DE&I initiatives.
- Passionate about advancing diversity and inclusion and creating a positive and supportive work environment for underrepresented community groups in the labour market.
