Description
As a Remote Nurse Triage professional, you will play a crucial role in delivering compassionate and timely medical advice to patients over the phone. You will guide patients through their healthcare needs, particularly during emergencies or after-hours inquiries. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient symptoms, providing accurate medical guidance, and coordinating necessary care while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough telephonic assessments of patient symptoms to determine appropriate care level.
- Provide accurate and timely medical advice following established protocols (utilizing the Schmidt/Thompson “gold standard” protocols).
- Triage incoming calls and effectively prioritize medical needs.
- Document patient interactions and assessments with precision.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care coordination.
- Adhere to legal and ethical standards in providing telephonic medical advice.
- Utilize medical resources and databases to deliver up-to-date patient care information.
- Communicate clearly with patients to ensure understanding of medical advice and instructions.
- Adapt to various telephonic medical scenarios with empathy.
- Engage in ongoing training and education to stay current with medical protocols and best practices.
- Maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor in all interactions.
Shifts Available
- Positions available for the 12 AM - 8 AM shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Illinois State License (or willingness to apply promptly).
- Compact State Licensure (or willingness to apply promptly).
- Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience, ideally in emergency or urgent care settings.
- Proven experience in triage nursing or telephone triage.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess and prioritize patient needs accurately and efficiently.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and telephonic communication systems.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.
- Capacity to work independently in a remote environment.
- Knowledge of and commitment to legal and ethical standards in telephonic medical advice.
- Dedication to providing exceptional patient care and support.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (specifically for 12 AM - 8 AM shifts).
