Temporary Accounting and Administrative Associate
Location: Walnut Creek, CA
Pay Range: $25-30/hr
Part-Time: Mon-Thurs 9am-2pm
Hybrid: 2 days in office after fully onsite training is completed
Temporary: 6-month contract
We’re seeking an Accounting & Administrative Associate to support a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the beautiful natural lands of the East Bay during a team member’s leave! This role offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on conservation efforts while gaining valuable experience in accounting, office management, and nonprofit operations.
As an Accounting & Administrative Associate, you’ll be a vital part of the finance and administration team. From processing invoices and reconciling donor revenue to managing office equipment and supporting the smooth flow of daily operations, your contributions will ensure the financial accuracy and efficiency needed to focus on our environmental mission.

What You’ll Do
- Process invoices, payments, and expenses with precision, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up to date.
- Assist with donor revenue reconciliation, donation processing, posting journal entries, and resolving discrepancies during audit prep.
- Contribute to the accuracy of company-wide financial records, updating vendor information and validating financial data for precision.
- Provide vital administrative support to the Director of Finance & Administration and the broader finance team.
- Step in as a backup receptionist, welcoming visitors and handling phone calls.
- Keep operations running smoothly by managing office equipment and ensuring common areas stay clean and organized.
- Support mail distribution, document scanning/shredding, and maintaining vendor contracts.
- Occasionally attend after-hours or weekend events to provide administrative support for special programs.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of office experience, ideally in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with accounting software (experience with MIP Accounting Platform is a plus!).
- A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to changing needs.
- Self-starter attitude with a collaborative spirit.
- A passion for protecting the environment and an appreciation for nature.
