Primary Purpose:
The Manager of Tech Careers will play a pivotal role in shaping Uplift's latest initiative for students and alumni pursuing careers in technology or fields significantly influenced by technological advancements. This position will be responsible for administering, developing, and organizing a suite of programs designed to foster tech awareness and skills across various levels. The manager will oversee the establishment of campus clubs for middle and high school students, creating a foundation for early tech engagement. Additionally, they will curate experiences that showcase the pervasive impact of technology across diverse business sectors, highlighting opportunities in tech-adjacent roles, industry-specific technical skills, and cutting-edge high-tech careers. Through these efforts, the Manager of Tech Careers will ensure Uplift provides targeted support and development opportunities, preparing students and alumni to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven professional landscape.
The Tech Careers program will provide Uplift alumni with hands-on experiences to understand and apply tech skills across various industries. These experiences will demonstrate how technology integrates with traditional roles to create and support products and services globally. Concurrently, the program will enhance staff and teacher awareness of current and emerging technological trends, highlighting their impact on existing and future career roles.
As the program lead, the Manager of Tech Careers will oversee its administration, develop partnerships with tech-specific organizations, and define diverse career pathways ranging from entry-level IT positions to advanced technological opportunities. Their responsibilities will include providing targeted career coaching and resume assistance to Uplift alumni, facilitating job placement opportunities, and organizing tech-focused events for upperclassmen. Combining analysis of student interest surveys and collaborating with campus experts, the Manager will work with the Tech Director to identify and nurture students interested in tech and tech-adjacent careers, ensuring a pipeline of talent ready to meet the evolving demands of the technology-driven job market.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage projects on behalf of Uplift’s Tech Career Services Team from concept to implementation, including project scope, tracking and people hiring (interns) and task management.
- Works collaboratively with campus leaders to implement campus programs for tech.
- Works efficiently to support tech careers while being aware of other Uplift and RTCC, FEC, partners and members to align to broader Uplift career strategies and supports.
- Maintain effective partnerships that lead to a program defined by high levels of efficacy, which includes high standards of employment and placement of alumni participants into living wage careers; development of indicators of success to demonstrate quality of programs and services in support of Uplift alumni.
- Integrates knowledge of Tech and IT industry trends and professional training to continuously improve program quality.
- Must be willing to continuously learn, use and apply AI and other emerging trends in technology to day-to-day solutions.
- Usage of appropriate tools and resources to promote employment opportunities in line with market trends and desired alumni Tech career outcomes
- Maintains school records in compliance with Texas State Boards and college regulations; prepares reports as required
- Effective alumni recruitment practices such as managing social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.), marketing and other relevant strategies to increase engagement and attract/recruit talent
- Create a unique and personalized coaching strategy based on the alum’s needs (HS grad, college student, college graduate)
- Provide career services such as but not limited to résumé writing, cover letter writing, LinkedIn consultations, interview preparation, Tech career exploration and job shadowing.
- Effectively build and maintain relationships with potential industry partners to provide sustainable career experiences (Career panels, Career trips, Internships, Workshops, etc.) for Uplift scholars and alumni
- Work closely with the RTCC team on the campus to coordinate and facilitate various informational career-centered workshops and training for parents, scholars, and staff
- Assist in planning and coordination of tech career events such as hackathon and other events for both interns, alumni and HS students. This will include managing and coordinating resources, transportation and schedule with partners. Must be highly organized.
- Support RTCC initiatives through event planning and facilitation and participating in various committees
- Works in alignment with executive goals and in parallel coordinate with existing CTE activities to ensure coherent and consistent messaging and synergy with progressive opportunities to build scholar awareness and confidence in tech skills and career opportunities.

Education, Experience, And/or Certification(s)
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required and Masters’ degree preferred; Relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Project Management Certification.
- Experience Requirements: Previous experience working in a Tech career preferred. Successful work with teens and young adults highly desirable. Previous career coaching experience highly preferred. Ability to work comfortably with tech executives and leadership as well as K-12 students.
- Special Skills/Certifications: People skills, adaptability, critical thinking, growth mindset, collaboration, creativity, timeliness, resourcefulness, project management certifications.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Communication Skills: Strong analytical, communication and writing skills
- Bilingual Skills: Preferred, but not required.
- Technology: Able to use Microsoft and G-Suite and/or learn any program related technology quickly and with a high level of proficiency (ie. MS Teams, MS SharePoint, Planner, Canva, Asana, Qualtrics)
- Strategic thinking: Excellent communication skills and the ability to see the big picture while primarily focused on managing details. The ideal candidate will be adept at building relationships across departments and external partners to create a cohesive and impactful tech education ecosystem.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
Work Environment:
Some district-wide travel required. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours required.
Starting Salary: $65,000
