Position Summary
Based in Orlando, FL, The Garage is a high-tech population health management platform deep-rooted in developing digital tools that accelerate the transformation to value-based care across the country. The Garage has been working with Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Managed Service Organizations (MSOs), Independent Physician Associations (IPAs), Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and many other value-based integrated delivery networks since its inception in early 2012. We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst (SDA) who will roll up their sleeves and play a key role as a healthcare data expert both internally and client-facing. As a key member of the Data and Analytics team, the SDA will be required to understand each of the client’s datasets including but not limited to payer claims, payer membership/rosters, EMR and ADT data at a granular level to empower the client’s understanding, implementation and use of The Garage’s Population Health Management platform. Objectives of this role:
- Review data upon receipt from client to evaluate data complexity, completeness to ensure data all data can be utilized to generate insights in the platform.
- Generate data models to help connect the client’s understanding of their data to the platform.
- Generate data dictionaries to align with the client’s dataset.
- Answer all questions on how the client’s data is reflected and being used in the population health management platform.
- Regularly meet with the clients to explain their data models, data dictionaries as well as complete analyses, ad hoc or otherwise, related to the platform to help generate further insights.
- Regularly collaborate with Business Analysts and Project Managers to understand the client needs and play the needed data SME role in the delivery process.
- Develop procedures to prepare, transform, and cleanse data prior to analyses.
- Study, understand, and be an expert in various value-based care and governmental healthcare payment programs and methodologies.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency of current work to scale and automate in partnership with the data architecture and engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to relate to and communicate with clients directly about their data and serve as a data expert for The Garage.
- Lead client calls that require data understanding.
- Serve as the data expert internally, sharing data knowledge with Business Analysts and Project Managers so that holistically, The Garage team has a deeper understanding of the platform and data products offered.
- Collaborate, problem-solve, and/or strategize with team members on upcoming client meetings, specifically on needs related to data and analytics.
- Understanding of data architecture, databases, ETL processes, and quality assurance protocols.
- Ability to execute simple to complex SQL queries.
- Understanding of population health related, medical economics, payer claims and membership data at the most granular level to complete mapping tasks and other technical related responsibilities.
- Ability to think critically on your feet and learn quickly.
- Ability to be willing to juggle multiple activities and objectives at once, with priorities potentially changing based on client needs.
- Develop, own and maintain data related process, data workflows, data dictionaries and other related documentation as needed.
- Develop and/or support client data portfolios.
- Assist in creating training courses and educational materials.
- Desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, evolving work environment.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience as an analyst, working with data (preferably healthcare data such as claims, membership and EMR datasets) producing insights and output used by teams to drive interventions and/or actions.
- The ability to pay attention to detail when working with data to make accurate conclusions and predictions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share findings both internally and externally with clients.
- A solid understanding of data sources, data organization, data processing and data storage/warehousing.
- Strong IT and mathematical skills. Strong SQL coding and excel skills required, with aptitude for learning other analytic tools.
- In depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data and analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant relational databases.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree specifically in mathematics, statistics or computer science or economics.
- Knowledge, experience and expertise in working with healthcare datasets.
- Experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques.
- Strong programming skills with frameworks such as ETL.
- Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
