Under limited supervision, the Appraisal Specialist Sr. takes the lead role and negotiates complex total loss settlements and oversees the appraisal process accurately, efficiently, and with excellent customer service. In addition, you will mentor Appraisal Specialists with less experience and assist them to achieve reasonable settlements.

Responsibilities
- Negotiates large losses, claims requiring higher check authority and sensitive assignments, such as SIU (Special Investigative Unit) files.
- Handles DMV documents, such as transfers of ownership, requests for electronic signatures, and reviewing/approving transfers to issue loss payments. Obtains coverage confirmation and provides the necessary documentation. Negotiates storage fees with body shops.
- Mentors less experienced employees, scheduling time to meet with them to observe, provide feedback, and answer questions.
- Receives assignment of special projects such as participation in pilot programs, providing ideas for process improvements, and/or training of new hires.
- Must be available to work overtime or a special schedule as needed.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED
- You may be required to obtain a Company sponsored Adjuster’s license to handle claims, to be secured upon hire.
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check.
Preferred:
Experience
Minimum:
- Appraisal Specialist or equivalent work experience.
- Background/experience in claims, mechanical warranty, or total loss.
Preferred:
- 1+ year related experience.
- Skills & Abilities
Minimum:
- Solid comprehension of basic principles and practices of Company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of current vehicle market values, recognizing grey market and custom vehicle values.
- Familiarity with DOI regulations, state laws, civil codes, and legal statutes.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally through negotiation.
- Ability to recognize red flags for coverage or limit issues.
- Ability to muti-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize responsibilities, and deliver accurate work products to expedite a claims resolution.
- Has a passion for serving customers in their time of need.
- Independently resolves complex business problems.
- Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills to represent the Company effectively and professionally in multi-channel correspondence with insureds, claimants, their representatives, and other entities.

Pay Range
USD $24.00 - USD $51.00 /Hr.
