Position Summary
The role involves utilizing expertise in various purchasing activities such as pricing, negotiating terms, securing volume discounts, managing long-term contracts, and overseeing the delivery of goods and services from suppliers. You will be responsible for adhering to government laws and regulations during procurement activities while ensuring alignment with management objectives.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Review MRP (SAP) order action messages, maintain schedules and visibility, and resolve issues until shipment.
- Generate work orders and issue purchase orders based on MRP (SAP) messages.
- Negotiate prices and delivery schedules to align with production needs.
- Process changes, reschedules, and outside processing to meet production goals.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely deliveries of quality products, including managing special requests and expediting as necessary.
- Identify potential late deliveries and plan for recovery.
- Prioritize material handling from receipt to shipment based on scheduling requirements and departmental workload.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5+ years in production control, specifically in material/inventory management within the defense or aerospace sectors.
Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
- Excellent planning, organizational, and motivational skills.
- Proficiency with the MRP (SAP) system is a must.
- General knowledge of machine shop practices and processing standards is helpful.
- Familiarity with military spares standards is beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, along with a computerized MRP system.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal) with a positive attitude and the capability to motivate others.
- Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks timely.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing company needs.
Environmental & Physical Requirements
- Office / Sedentary Requirements: Must be able to perform essential functions primarily in an office setting. Involves sitting for extended periods (66%+ daily), ability to hear the telephone, enter data on a computer, and may require lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements: Work may occur in an office or warehouse environment. Involves standing, walking, bending, stooping, or climbing for 66%+ of work hours. May include exposure to dust and the ability to lift or push up to 50 pounds for 33% - 66% of the time.
