Position Summary
At the core of our company is our proprietary technology. We are seeking a VP of Software Engineering to join the quickly expanding Technology Operations team. The goal of the department is to solve business needs through our proprietary technology solutions. We are constantly improving processes and efficiencies for our operations staff. The primary focus of this position is to be an integrated quality resource for project teams on our biggest products. Anchor is an entrepreneurial company and this position will have significant impact on the future of the business and its technology solutions as we grow and expand our operations nationwide.
This is an internal service provider role collaborating with key functional leaders at the VP, director, and executive level. The VP of Software Engineering will run the software development team to deliver exceptional value and results to internal stakeholders, line level employees, and Anchor's real estate developer customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in empowering and guiding technology teams delivering value to our customers by leveraging Agile methodologies to providing quality and timely results.
- Lead several scrum teams in recommending, evaluating and decision-making in making technology choices and decisions.
- Proactive contributor that is calm under pressure, with an eagerness to learn and share with the team.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement, and collaboration within the engineering teams.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent; develop career growth plans for team members.
- Work closely with the executive team to align engineering initiatives with business priorities and long-term goals.
- Oversee the design and architecture of software systems to ensure they are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve software development processes.
- Ensure that engineering teams are implementing efficient and effective testing, monitoring, and deployment practices.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and negotiations related to software development tools, platforms, and services.
- Own the execution of the technical objectives and roadmaps provided by the CTO.
- Collaborate effectively with PMO and business requirements teams to deliver substantial automation across the enterprise
- Focus on building new functionality within internally developed systems such as Anchor's internal proprietary software
- Integrate multiple systems, including 3rd party systems, to interface seamlessly with internal systems to create an excellent experience for customers and employees
- Create transparency on software engineering at Anchor to inspire trust and confidence in the business teams who serve as internal customers for the software development team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in designing and building scalable software systems.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably at the director or VP level, managing engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Deep and thorough understanding of Python
- Track record of success building products powered by serverless technologies as well as development and delivery experience (preferably using AWS)
- Depth in NoSQL and SQL fundamentals
- Good working knowledge of cloud based security practices and technologies (preferably AWS)
- Experience in cross functional matrix team environment and with DevOps infrastructure-as-code experience
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, connecting directly and effectively with cross-functional stakeholders at various levels
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions under pressure.
- A passion for learning, continuous improvement, sharing, and working in a team environment
- Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum principles
- Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position which requires in office reporting to Anchor’s Thousand Oaks office.
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $225,000-$275,000, plus annual discretionary bonus based on performance of the individual and company.
